GMP take the view that the fact that a crime is committed within a domestic environment is not a mitigating factor, but an aggravating one. It can take the form of physical, sexual, emotional or mental cruelty and can affect anybody, regardless of sex, race or background.
Domestic violence is not acceptable under any circumstances. Support is available throughout the whole process, from the initial call to pressing charges, through court cases and beyond.
